A New Mexico woman kicked off an airplane at the Burlington International Airport three years ago for breast feeding her baby is suing Delta Air Lines. Negotiations failed to reach a settlement between the Atlanta-based airline and Emily Gillette. On Wednesday Gillette filed suit in U.S. District Court in Burlington.

Gillette was ordered off a Delta Connections plane by a flight attendant after twice refusing an order to cover up while she breast fed her baby prior to takeoff. Gillette's lawsuit says she felt "shame and embarrassed" after being ordered off the plane.

Delta refused to comment on the suit , but a spokesman says the airline supports a mother's right to breast-feed.

The Indiana Court of Appeals in the US says six inmates at the Greene County Jail didn't commit a crime when they sneaked into each other's cells to have sex.

The 2-1 ruling upheld Greene Superior Court Judge Dena Martin's decision dismissing escape charges against three men and three women. Martin ruled the inmates didn't commit a crime because they didn't intend to leave the jail.

Two appellate judges agreed , but Judge Ezra Friedlander issued a lengthy dissent Wednesday , reasoning that the inmates committed escape because they left the cells where they were ordered confined.

Court records say the men — ages 44 , 38 and 17 — and the women — ages 27 , 26 and 21 — crawled through the ceiling after midnight , having sex and drinking homemade alcohol.

Teenagers are being bribed with free alcohol to take sexual health tests in the UK. The move is an attempt to cut the increasing levels of sexually transmitted infections , amid dwindling numbers who volunteer to be tested.

Under a countrywide scheme proposed by the National Union of Students , those who take part in the health tests are given tokens which can be exchanged for alcoholic drinks. But some of the events , held during university fresher weeks , have descended into drunken mayhem with students abusing the incentive.

It comes as chlamydia emerged as the most common sexually transmitted infection in the UK accounting for 121 , 000 cases last year , with two-thirds among 16 to 24-year-olds.

Last night medical experts , including the Department of Health , criticised the events for encouraging binge drinking. Conservative MP Ann Widdecombe said: ‘The organisers are naive to think that when alcohol’s involved , students wouldn’t work out a way to abuse the system.

‘Using alcohol to bribe youths into testing is also unsuitable as we’re trying to curb binge drinking not promote it.’

Police say a Wisconsin woman in the US stripped in front of her children in an attempt to avoid arrest for shoplifting , then scuffled with officers and exposed herself through a squad car window.

Julia E. Laack , 36 , of Sheboygan was charged Friday with felony battery of a peace officer , resisting an officer , shoplifting and two counts of disorderly conduct , the Sheboygan Press reported. The criminal complaint alleges Laack stole a bag of beef jerky and a lighter at a convenience store Thursday afternoon. Police went to her home. Police entered and tried to calm her down. With her children present , the complaint said , she stripped to her underwear and told the officers they couldn't arrest her because she would be naked. Laack struggled with the officers as they tried to arrest her , the complaint alleged , kicking one in the groin and spitting in the mouth of another.

While in the squad car on the way to the police station , the complaint said , Laack exposed her buttocks against the rear window. The complaint said Laack had a preliminary blood-alcohol level of 0.112%. The legal blood-alcohol limit for driving is 0.08%.

Fredericksburg police are looking for a urinal-damaging vandal who wreaked havoc in the city in Virginia , US on Friday. Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said the man damaged urinals in at least seven city restaurants in or near Central Park that afternoon.

The vandal then claimed to be a plumber and tried to get several restaurants to pay him to fix them. One restaurant , Carlos O'Kellys , actually paid for work that turned out to be faulty , Bledsoe said. Police have identified the suspect as 39-year-old Timothy Banks of Fort Washington , Md.

He is charged with seven counts of felony vandalism and three counts of attempting to obtain money by false pretenses. Bledsoe said police have since learned that Banks has been charged with similar offenses in other localities , including Prince William and Fairfax counties.

The investigation began about 3:20 p.m. Friday when an employee at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant reported that a man had damaged a urinal in the men's bathroom before leaving in a gold Chrysler with Maryland license plates.

He was seen going into nearby Cheeseburger in Paradise , where he allegedly damaged another urinal and fled just before police arrived.

Bledsoe said the subsequent investigation revealed that similar incidents had recently taken place at Bonefish Grill , Smokey Bones , Ryan's Steak House , Outback Steakhouse and Carlos O'Kellys.

Bledsoe said that at Carlos O'Kellys , a pipe from the urinal had been ripped from the wall , causing water to flow onto the floor. The manager paid the suspect , who claimed to be a professional plumber , to fix it. It was still leaking after the suspect was gone. Bledsoe said she could not release the exact amount of money the phony plumber got , but said it was between $250 and $300.

Workers at a pizza-making plant in the Republic of Ireland are set to step up a strike after being sacked for allegedly viewing porn. Staff at Green Isle Foods in Co Kildare have won cross-union support for their protest. The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has granted their union , the Technical , Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU) , permission for an all-out picket at the factory in Naas.

The plant may face serious disruption today if other union members , including suppliers and An Post workers , refuse to pass the picket. The company said three workers lost their jobs after viewing "adult material" and breaching the company's internet policy. But their union claims they are being scapegoated.

"One of our members received an email from outside the plant and was essentially dismissed for receiving an email , " said TEEU general secretary designate , Eamon Devoy. Over 40 workers went on strike last month after the workers lost their jobs.

The TEEU said the sackings were linked to a separate incident when the company sent a confidential file about seven redundancies to a worker by mistake.

A Green Bay man shot in the head while hunting Sunday was wounded by his hunting partner , according to a Depart-ment of Natural Resour- ces conservation warden.

Chou Vang , 70 , was struck below the right ear by a round from a .22 caliber rifle fired by his cousin , Ge Vang , 46 , also of Green Bay.

The pair were in the Navarino Wildlife Area Sept. 13. They were about a tenth of a mile north of Highway 156 , several hundred yards east of County Highway K when the accident occurred.

“The two entered the woods to go squirrel hunting , they separated and intended to hunt in different directions , ” said DNR warden Mark Schraufnagel. “The victim ended up in an area his partner didn’t expect him to be in at that time. The hunting partner observed a squirrel in the woods , and moments later observed movement he assumed the squirrel , and fired one shot at what turned out to be his hunting partner.”

The two men were 237 feet apart , the investigation determined. Schraufnagel said neither man was wearing blaze orange , but that’s not required when hunting small game , only during the deer gun season.

Despite the wound , Vang remained conscious and alert after the accident. He was taken by helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay , and has been released.

Schraufnagel said that in every hunting accident he’s investigated , one of the four rules of hunting has been broken. In this case , the rule was “know your target” by positively identifying what you plan to shoot.
